I have proudly called Elko County home since 1989. My life has been dedicated to serving my country, my community, and the citizens of Elko County through military and law enforcement service spanning more than three decades.
In 1990, I enlisted in the United States Army and served during Operation Desert Storm in 1991. During my military career, I was stationed in Kirchgoens, Germany, and Fort Riley, Kansas. I later continued my service with the Nevada Army National Guard, retiring with the rank of Staff Sergeant.
Throughout my military career, I served as a Team Leader, Squad Leader, Driver, Gunner, Truck Commander, and Convoy Commander. These positions taught me the importance of leadership, accountability, teamwork, and making sound decisions under pressure. I deployed in support of combat operations during Desert Storm in 1991, Iraq from 2004-2005 and 2006-2007, and Afghanistan in 2012.
In 2003, I began my career with the Elko County Sheriff’s Office Detention Division. Over the next 20 years, I worked my way through the ranks, serving as Deputy, Corporal, Sergeant, and Lieutenant, ultimately retiring as a Sergeant. During my career, I supervised personnel, managed critical incidents, trained and mentored employees, and worked every day to ensure the safety and security of our community.
In 2018, I had the honor of attending the prestigious FBI National Academy, where I trained alongside law enforcement leaders from across the nation and around the world. The experience strengthened my leadership skills and broadened my perspective on public safety and community policing.
My military and law enforcement careers have been built on the values of integrity, service, accountability, and leadership. I am running for Sheriff because I believe Elko County deserves experienced leadership that understands the challenges facing law enforcement while remaining committed to serving the public with professionalism, transparency, and respect.
As your Sheriff, I will work to support our deputies and staff, strengthen relationships with our communities, promote public safety, and ensure the Sheriff’s Office remains responsive, accountable, and prepared to meet the needs of Elko County today and in the future.
I have spent my life serving others. I am ready to continue that service as your next Elko County Sheriff.
